Der Stand der Bilder Wystawa Zbigniewa Rybczyńskiego i Gábora Bódy

Przygotowywana wspólnie przez Centrum Sztuki WRO, berlińską Akademie der Künste i Center for Culture & Communication (C3) w Budapeszcie, we współpracy z Collegium Hungaricum i Instytutem Polskim w Berlinie, wystawa Der Stand der Bilder stanowi retrospektywę twórczości dwóch wybitnych artystów-eksperymentatorów: Zbigniewa Rybczyńskiego i Gábora Bódy.
Ich poszukiwania w dziedzinie ruchomego obrazu – filmu eksperymentalnego, wideo i telewizji – miały znaczący wpływ na rozwój oraz przemiany zachodzące w sztuce i kulturze tak Europy Środkowej, skąd pochodzą, jak i przestrzeni audiowizualnej w ogóle. Wystawa ukazuje kolejne etapy rozwoju artystycznego twórców począwszy od wczesnych lat 70. ubiegłego wieku, po najnowsze eksperymenty Rybczyńskiego z zaawansowanymi technologiami cyfrowymi. Wystawa prezentuje całokształt twórczości Rybczyńskiego – obrazy filmowe i elektroniczne, towarzyszące im szkice, rysunki, obliczenia i wykresy – oraz wybrane prace z dorobku Gábora Bódy.

Wystawy Der Stand Der Bilder oraz Fragment Mirosława Bałki są głównymi wydarzeniami projektu Blickweschel, realizowanego dzięki kooperacji Instytutu Polskiego w Berlinie i Akademie der Künste w kontekście Polskiej Prezydencji w Unii Europejskiej. Projekt Blickwechsel ma na celu prezentację polskiej sztuki dwudziestego wieku oraz wzmocnienie dialogu pomiędzy Niemcami a Polską.

An exhibition The State of Images organized by WRO Art Center (Wrocław), Akademie der Künste (Berlin) and C3 Center for Culture & Communication (Budapest) in cooperation with Collegium Hungaricum and Polish Institute in Berlin is an attempt to juxtapose two pioneers of media art, Zbigniew Rybczyński (PL) and Gábor Bódy (HU).
They begun their artistic enquiries in the early 1970s and immediately took on the challenges of the new media technologies, initially as experimental filmmakers and then in the field of video. Surprisingly, the paths of these two artists from Central Europe have never crossed before. This exhibition gives a unique opportunity to both appreciate their different artistic languages as well as seek for possible intersections. One immediately noticeable trait in their oeuvres is the spirit of progressive, radical and revolutionary experimentation. Over the years they have used technology to persistently examine the boundaries of both technology and human imagination.
The exhibition shows stages of their creative development that were building up through time but also through space and is at the same time a perfect demonstration of how boundaries between East and West might be flux. Presented videos, animations, drawings, calculations and wide-ranging reflections reveal the universalistic quality of their art that is utterly humane.
